Iterated GSM Mappings: A Collapsing Hierarchy
نویسندگان
چکیده
With motivations from various areas (Lindenmayer systems, iterated reading of literary works, self-generated in nite sequences, \computing by carving" as suggested in the DNA computing area), in several places mechanisms based on iterated (non-deterministic) nite state sequential transducers were considered. It is known that such mechanisms can characterize the family of recursively enumerable languages. We continue here the study of such devices, investigating the hierarchy on the number of states. We nd that this hierarchy collapses: four states are enough in order to characterize the recursively enumerable languages, three states lead to non-recursive languages and cover the ET0L languages, while two states can cover the E0L (hence also context-free) languages. The case of deterministic transducers remains open.

Use of Hierarchy in Fault Collapsing
We discuss the advantage of using hierarchy in testing. Our demonstration is based on the problem of fault collapsing. Though this problem is not considered to be too complex, the time of collapsing faults in moderately large circuits can be several hours or more. This can be considerably shortened by hierarchical fault collapsing. Large circuits are efficiently described using hierarchy, which...

After proving a multi-dimensional extension of Zalcman’s renormalization lemma and considering maximality problems about dimensions, we find renormalizing polynomial families for iterated elementary mappings, extending this result to some kinds of correspondences (by means of ’algebraic’ renormalizing families) and to the family of the iterated mappings of an automorphism of C2 admitting a repu...

متن کاملUsing Hierarchy in Design Automation: The Fault Collapsing Problem
Although the problem of fault collapsing is not considered to be too complex, the time of collapsing faults in large circuits can be several hours or more. Large circuits are efficiently described using hierarchy, which significantly helps the architectural design, verification and physical design. We add fault collapsing to that list. We do not flatten the circuit and the collapsed fault sets ...
متن کاملInfinite Iterated Function
We examine iterated function systems consisting of a countably innnite number of contracting mappings (IIFS). We state results analogous to the well-known case of nitely many mappings (IFS). Moreover, we show that IIFS can be approximated by appropriately chosen IFS both in terms of Hausdorff distance and of Hausdorff dimension. Comparing the descriptive power of IFS and IIFS as mechanisms deen...
